How do you cut a small tree with a chainsaw?
You cut any tree with a technique known as felling. You can find information about this technique even in your chainsaw literature. There are two basic steps to it. First is to make a notch in the tree keeping in view the direction you want it to fall (after making sure that tree will not hurt someone or something when it finally falls). Do chainsaw chains have a direction?
Chainsaws do have a direction of their cutting chain. When you are holding the chainsaw, the cutting edge of the chain on top side must be facing towards you while the lower side must be facing away from you. This is so because as the cutting edge moves around the bar, you want it to carry the wood chip away from you and itself for safety. Check out the video tutorial below for better understanding.
